Board of directors

Alicia Bermes
Treasurer/Co-Treasurer, Programming Committee
She/Her
Alicia (she/her) was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. She has an MA in Psychology from Loyola University. After working in Market research for five years she chose to stay home, raise a family, and homeschool two fabulous children! As she re-entered the workforce, she found the Chamber world and has been there ever since! As her children moved west, (Oakland CA, and Hood River) she chose to follow, continuing in Chamber work at the Beaverton Area Chamber.
Alicia has helped two churches through the process of becoming welcoming and affirming to all. Having two queer children, being a part of the LGBTQIA community is a part of her; so when asked to serve on the Pride Beaverton Board the answer was easy!

Monika Piazza
Vice President, Executive Committee, Communications Committee, Governance Committee, Programming Committee, Pride in the Park Committee
She/Her/They/Them
Born and raised in conservative Ohio, Monika never quite felt as though she belonged. Growing up, she didn’t understand why. Then, college happened. She met many other kids who had had similar upbringings. It was then that a certain sense of pride formed in Monika…pride in character, contentment in choices, and a deep sense of belonging. At that point, Monika made the conscious choice to try and help others with their self discovery and understanding, while at the same time making sure everyone within her reach feels included and loved.
Monika has been on the Pride Beaverton board since 2022. She lives in Beaverton with her 2 dogs, Betty and Carol and enjoys anything outdoors from hiking and kayaking to spending days at the beach. You might see her, from time to time, scooting around town in her bright orange vintage VW Bus with the dogs’ ears flapping out the windows.

Quinn Simpson
He/Him
Quinn Simpson co-founded Pride Beaverton in 2018 and has been the organization’s digital guru, managing the website and supporting outreach efforts. After moving from Portland in 2015, he became a proud “westsider,” getting involved with the community as the treasurer of the Central Beaverton Neighborhood Association Committee. By day, he also serves as a DEI-B leader, championing equity efforts alongside his other duties.
Outside of work, Quinn loves spending time with his husband, their big floof Odin, and their tuxedo cat Kiro, and he escapes into the wilderness in his self-made campervan whenever he can.

Erin Doyle
Programming Committee, Pride in the Park Committee
She/Her
Erin is a transplant to Oregon moving here from Arizona in 2020, and she quickly realized the PNW suits her quite well. Erin joined Pride Beaverton in order to make sure that the LGBTQIA+ community has as many resources and inclusive events as possible in these unprecedented times. She enjoys spending time with her girlfriend and their three cats while living next door to her sister and niece, which is truly a quirky sitcom in the making.

Erin Monahan
Communications Committee, Fundraising Committee
She/Her
Erin (she/her) grew up in California before moving to Oregon in 2009, drawn by her love of the seasons and the great outdoors. After working over a decade at Nike in product creation, she is now a dedicated Portland Metro real estate agent and is passionate about nurturing a community where every client, friend, and family member feels safe and connected. Her passion for community and connecting people comes from her belief that a true home is defined by the bonds we build and the inclusive spaces we create together. Outside of work, she cherishes Saturdays at the Beaverton Farmers Market, refining her gardening skills, and exploring THPRD trails and parks with her husband, daughter and their mighty rescue pup, Dexter.

Sue Morris
Fundraising Committee, Programming Committee
She/Her
Sue has called “The Beav” home since 2017. She enjoys adventuring outside, deliciously diverse food, and good humor. She can be found strolling around town with her fabulous twin kids and exceptional wife.
Growing up as the “rainbow sheep” in the family, she has a strong thirst for all things DEI. She works as an educator in the community supporting and teaching our future leaders.

Vick Niculae
Communications Committee, Programming Committee, Pride in the Park Committee
He/Him
Vick, originally from Bucharest, Romania, combines his European heritage with American experiences. Holding an MBA in Business Management, he skillfully navigated the corporate world and spent seven years in the San Francisco Bay Area. There, he actively volunteered at the San Francisco LGBT Center, making a significant impact on his community. His love for music and dancing is reflected in his lively personality, and he enjoys simple pleasures like paddle boarding with friends in the summer. In 2022, he moved to Beaverton, where he lives with his partner and two cats, Hermes and Hercules. Surrounded by houseplants, Vick finds peace and inspiration, exploring new business ventures while cherishing his life filled with music, nature, and community.

Rae Hill

She/Her
Rae is another Midwest transplant, who has called Beaverton home since 2021. After getting her MBA from Kelley School of Business, she’s spent the last 15 years working on strategy, finance and communications initiatives for C-suite executives in the Fortune 100.
Rae came out late in life, and shares two fabulous children with her ex-husband. She is also a yoga teacher, an aerialist, and a lifelong student. She believes strongly that community is a critical component in how individuals learn, thrive, and grow, and is thrilled to be helping bring Pride Beaverton’s mission to life.

Matthew Hernandez Parra
Fundraising Committee, Finance Committee, Pride in the Park Committee
He/Him
My name is Matthew, and I’m the owner of Pride Renovations, a queer- owned construction business proudly serving the Portland metro area. Originally from Orange County, California, my husband and I moved to the Pacific Northwest 15 years ago to build a life rooted in purpose, community, and family.
Together, we bought our first home, started a business, and became foster parents- eventually adopting and rising three wonderful children on our little urban farm, complete with a garden and a lively flock.
As a gay man and person of color, I’ve always believed in the power of visibility and representation. Through Pride Renovations, I bring that belief into my work- remodeling homes while building inclusive spaces for all. Beyond the jobsite, I stay closely involved with local organizations supporting queer youth, at-risk youth, and other marginalized members of our community. Weather I’m connecting with neighbors, managing a renovation, or tending to my garden at home, my mission is the same: to create spaces where everyone feels seen, safe, and supported.
At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to care-care for our homes, our families, and the communities we call home.
